We've had the busiest week over here in the Hungry House. Kiddo crossed over from middle school to high school (since the school is K-12, they called it a crossover ceremony and not a graduation) and so all of the year end activities kept us busy. Also, we planned our summer family vacation, and we are SUPER excited about it! More to come on that later in this post. But, let's get to recapping!
HIGH: The Hungry Fam solidified our summer vacation! Did you know Amtrak does full vacation packages? We didn't either, but they do! We'll be taking a train to Atlanta, then a rental car to Nashville and Pigeon Forge. The Rail Bookers book your train tickets, hotels, rental car and we'll even have tickets for a show at the Ryman in Nashville and a tour of the Smokey Mountains in Pigeon Forge. We're pretty stoked!
LOW: After taking kiddo to the Concert in the Cosmos, as we were driving home, we had a little mishap on the drive home. There was a board on the interstate that I couldn't avoid without getting into wreck, so I hoped for the best and got not the best. Road that thread baring tire a lot longer than I probably should have.
HA: So our office, which is normally extremely cold, had the A/C go out. I'm pretty sure this has a direct correlation with the work they have been doing to fix the fact that the building started flooding last week.
COOL EATS: Hungry fam ate good this week! We tried out two new to us restaurants, which both deserve their own posts, so they may be coming later. Above: At Brasus Peru, a couple of things we got were the Honduran tacos and the Salchipapa (hot dogs and fries). We also got an assortment of cookies from Caroline's Cookies, that half baked (half chocolate cookie/half brownie) and the brownie sandwiches were AMAZING.
Below: From The Little Village we had their amazing bread (seriously, it's what everyone talks about) and this crème Brule. And I had to try the limited time Sweet Fire Steak & Shrimp from Panda Express.
CHASING FUN: To celebrate kiddo's end of middle school, as part of her Christmas gifts I bought tickets to one of the Concert in the Cosmos series that our symphony was doing. Kiddo loves the planetarium and she is a theatre kid, so the one celebrating the Tony Awards seemed like the perfect fit. We spent our dinner before trying to guess which songs would be featured, and I was surprised that I guessed two of them! While it was not what I thought it would be (I thought it would be instrumentals of the songs, but it was just a keyboardist and 4 singers), it was still amazing and we can't wait to go to more shows like this in the fall.
LAST READ: There's been A LOT of reading happening lately. Two of my most recent books are super sweet second chance hockey romances ... some peppers but not much. As You Ice It by Emma St. Clair and Mr. Broody by Piper Rayne. Another recent read that I highly recommend is The Onyx Covenant by Mila Young. This one was a targeted ad post on Instagram and I usually don't think much of those so I didn't expect this one to be as well written as it was and for me to be so invested in it.
CURRENT READ: There are a few of these because I haven't really found the one that speaks to me. I'm back on Iron Flame since I finished listening to last month's book club pick. It's also time to get to listening to the pick for June which is Don't Believe Her by Nicola Sanders. I can't recall if I've read this one or not, but if I haven't then I know I have read one with a very similar plot. My current KU read is Once Upon a Pack by Ari Wright. A reverse haram why choose omegaverse romance. Yea, I'm all over the place right now with my reads.
WATCHING: It's NCAA postseason softball time, so the Hungry Fam is watching all the regionals and getting ready for super regional action. We're also watching a lot of playoff hockey. Even thought the Bruins aren't in it, we're been watching the Fighting Brad Marchands who will hopefully take game 7 tonight and advance. I need Marchy to get a cup after being traded.
OBSESSING: There is lots of travel planning happening right now in my world. I have a mission trip coming up in June, Hungry Fam vacay in July and then Bestie Trip in September. I've started to get some more solidified plans going for all of them so I can't wait for them to all unfold.
