Weekly Recap

This year is flying by! It's Halloween this week, and I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to attempt to DIY a costume. I have that Fourth Wing jacket from Boston, and I thought maybe I could DIY a Violet Sorrengail outfit with her wearing the "Xaden letter man jacket" as kiddo calls it.

The biggest news of this week is that kiddo and I went to apply for our passports for her trip to London this summer! And like all kids tend to do, she bonded with another teenager over embarrassing parents in the waiting room. They exchanged numbers, so she made a new friend out of the wait. The woman working was like, "wait, they don't know each other?" It was crazy how quick they just fell into a rhythm.

CHASING THE FUN

There was actually a lot of fun to be had this week, and all on back to back to back days. Friday night, I went to the football game to watch kiddo do her trainer thing. My mom went too, so we just talked the whole time. She laughed at me because I had a moment at the concession stand where I was almost THAT person. I ordered jambalaya (which is on the menu) and the workers looked at me funny and said they didn't have jambalaya then pointed to the menu (which had jambalaya listed as the second item) and told me what is on the menu they had. I had thought about ordering a hot chocolate later, but since I didn't see anyone else with what looked like one, I was too nervous to do so.

Saturday morning was the final day of the fall soccer academy that our church puts on. I got to be the group leader for the older kids this time, and it was way easier since they really just need to be pointed in the right direction.

Sunday was the fall festival at our church. We had a chili cook off (pictured) and two of my three favorites placed! Some of the chili's had secret ingredients and I was shocked to learn the secret ingredient in the winning chili (which was my favorite) was an apple! I also worked a few of the games, and had a blast playing tic tac toe with the kids.

COOL EATS

Dutch Bros - We finally have a Dutch Bros in Baton Rouge! I had never been, but have friends who rave about it. I just happened to be driving by on the day of their soft opening, so there was no line and I have to say that I think as far as the current chains go, this could be my favorite.

BRQ - This is not the best bbq that I have had. It's not even the best bbq in the city, in my opinion, but its solid. Also, the options for their catered box lunches are vast and maybe next time I won't do bbq.

Johnny's Pizza - I forget just how much I like Johnny's pizza. This was a staple for me in college, and they were a sponsor when I worked at LA Tech, so we had them a lot. I forget that we have one here. The dining in experience isn't that great, but I may just order from there because the pizza is just so good. This is the first time I've tried their "deep pan" option and it did not disappoint.

BOOKS READ

Originally, I didn't think I read too much this week. Then I checked my camera roll, because I take a picture of book covers after I read them and I've read more than I thought.

Moonlight Muffins is the next book in a series of MM shifter romances and this one was even more adorable than the others. A wolf wants to open a bakery where everyone can feel welcome and he and his landlord fall in love. His landlord shifts to being his business partner as he realizes that his mate has built more than a bakery, he's built a community.

Loosing His Siren Luna - This is part one of a duet and I haven't really felt the need to read the second part yet. During their first life, he treats her horribly because he cannot tell she is his mate. Since she is part wolf/part siren, her powers don't come until she is 20, which happens to be the agreed upon date they can divorce, so she delivers the papers and his rejection as he realizes she is his mate. Both are reborn with all of their memories, which leads to an uphill battle as he tries to win her back.

The Heather Wife - I read this one on Wattpad, but it's going to be published for Kindle soon, so I'm including it here. It was REALLY good. A good focus of what happens when you don't have a choice in your destiny, and how different people handle it. Some rise to the occasion and fulfill their duty, while others laugh at it then get burned.

His Bittersweet Regret - What happens when your brothers convince you that you should take a break from the woman you are about to propose to, because you need to see what else is out there before you commit? And how do you come back from blindsiding her with that request and then leave before she can tell you that she is pregnant with your child?

Wondergirl- A reverse harem romance between a science nerd and three professional hockey players. It's a novella, so there's instalove and its a super quick read.
