What I Ate: Bullfish Bistro

We haven't been to Bullfish Bistro in forever, so I was glad that one of kiddo's friends was in town and was having a few of them meet up there. Kiddo's best friend's family owns this place, and we don't go as often as we would like.

Bullfish is a Caribbean-fused restaurant and everything is made to order. And it is also a restaurant that can sell out of their most popular dishes on weekends. This was the case for me as I was really wanted their paella, but had to go with my second choice.

Here's what we ate:

We started with the chicken bites. These are our favorite appetizer they have. The island sauce that it comes with is kind of like a gussied up Thousand Island.

There are plenty of them, and the sauce on the chicken is a little spicy (some days spicier than others and this was a more spicy day). Honestly, I could have just eaten these with a side for my entrée and been satisfied.

We also got some of their bread and these not so little corn bread like muffins are soft, buttery and melt in your mouth. Definitely worth adding them to your order.

My parents are creatures of habit when we come here, and my mom refuses to get anything but the porkchop. You can order one or two porkchops, and as you can see, even one is plenty to have leftovers with.

My dad isn't super adventurous in his eating and we joke that if there is a burger on the menu, he's going to get it.

On the other hand, I was influenced by their Tik Tok. With paella not an option, it freed me up to cave and order their crawfish mac and cheese. I saw this on Tik Tok, and it looked SO good.

It's SUPER cheesy and so rich that I couldn't finish it. The crawfish were a little small in there, but with our week of snow, most crawfish have been small this year.

I'm not sure how many cheeses were in there, but it was well worth the stomach ache I had later that night.

One thing I didn't get this time was a mocktail. They have a decent amount of mocktails that are refreshing. I'm working my way through their options because I'm a sucker for a good mocktail.

Bullfish is one of those places that you can relax and not worry about feeling rushed. If you're in a hurry, it's probably best to call in an order to go. However, if you want to try somewhere a little different that's staffed with friendly people who won't make you feel rushed to leave, this is the place.
