Weekly Check-In

It's gonna be may ... this month is going to FLY by. Kiddo has something every weekend it seems, and her 8th grade graduation is coming up. It's hard to believe that in a few weeks I'll be the mom to a high schooler. I feel old. But on to the weekly recap ...

HIGH: Kiddo placed first in her category at the state thespian festival this weekend! She got superior in solo acting, and then their group got superior in the group performance.

LOW: None of my bets for the Kentucky Derby hit. 😔

HA: My dad's pick DID win the Derby so his ego may not be able to stay in the house until next year.

COOL EATS: Cheese and Jalapeno empanadas from El Maguey Mexican Buffet, The Sampler from Superior Grill, Gail's Hot Chicken from Curbside Burgers, Fire Cracker Shrimp from General Tso's

CHASING THE FUN:
I love horseracing, and every year since I stopped working events it seems the universe will find SOMETHING to put on my calendar so I can't host a Derby party. (This year was kiddo's thespian competition) However, I always have my family give me horses to bet for them and do a spread for us. This year, I was proud of how my spread turned out. (Special thanks to some Too Good To Go purchases)

LAST READ: I Got You by Stacy Williams. Super cute book that was a re-read for me. I read this one when it first came out and now that the entire series is complete, I can move on to check on those other brothers.

CURRENT READ: Physical: Sunrise on the Reaping Audio: Iron Flame. I got a new library card, so I'm back in the que for all the audiobook holds I had that JUST came through and this one had no wait, so I'm listening to this one in the office.

ON REPLAY: "Little Goodbyes" by SheDaisy. Honestly, saw it on a TikTok and was like, dang, that song was a banger, and it's been on loop al week.

WATCHING: Honesty, introduced kiddo to Family Matters and have been watching that from the beginning.

OBSESSING: How the heck do I always manage to screw lids on water bottles of travel coffee mugs that somehow are juuuuust lose enough that I still end up with a beverage all over me?
