Of my summer of ARC reading, this was my first. Somehow I managed to sign myself up to be not just an ARC reader (advanced reader copy) but also to be part of the promo team for the Midife Meet Cute Series. MMC is a multi-author series which features characters in their 40s. Finally! Something I can relate too! I find myself getting annoyed in many romance novels with 18-25 year olds because I'm just like "what are you thinking?!"
This book was definitely a nice break from that. We have Ivy and Beau, exes who were married for a whole 3 days who are brought in to help save her family's bookstore.
This book is the perfect summer beach read. Once I started reading it, I couldn’t stop because I had to know what happened to make these two break up initially.
Their characters were so well written that while I was siding with Ivy on her hating Beau campaign, all it took was reading Beau’s chapter and then I was rooting for those two to find their way back together. Talk about emotional whiplash in the best way! The banter between Ivy and Beau had me literally laughing out loud at times, and I could feel their chemistry popping off the page.
Not that this should make you want to read this book, but I did recommend this one to my mom. She is probably the pickiest of readers, and usually stays on the Amish romance vibe.
If you’re looking for a clean romance that’s a quick read and will leave you laughing, definitely check this one out.
