ARC Season: Sketches of a Second Chance

This one dropped early! And with it only being 99 cents on Amazon, you’re going to want to go ahead and grab it.

While this book is about second chances, it is just as much about second chances to live the life you’re meant to live as it is a romance novel. Once I started reading this book, I couldn’t put it down. The way that the author writes makes you feel the inner tension that the characters are experiencing.

Noa is a baseball player who is returning home to lick his wounds after an injury ends his career. His other love was art, and with the injury being to his hand, he isn’t sure who he is without being the guy on the mound or the guy behind the sketchpad.

Jewel is a dancer who just wants to be seen. She gets the chance to step out of her mother’s shadow as the lead choreographer of the island’s showcase. Even though she is talented, she feels that the island still sees her as a kid trying on shoes that are too big for her.

The two get the chance to discover who they are meant to be as they work together on the showcase. Jewel as a choreographer and Noa as a set designer. While they struggle with their own doubts and insecurities, a natural disaster forces them together when Jewel has nowhere else to go.

The characters are so vulnerable and honest as they work through their doubts and it’s sweet to watch as their bond forms and they each figure out exactly who they are without all the trappings of the expectations of others.

And y'all, this book is FULL of amazing quotes and lines that will cut straight to the heart. Here are just a few of them:
