I turned 42 on Tuesday, and I spent the day trying to rack up as many birthday freebies as I could. This was the first year I have not taken the day off of work for my birthday, and it's only because I was out a week and a half for vacation right before it.
However, I knew that I had to make the day fun and special. I started it out with two freebies for breakfast, a hash brown from McDonalds and a Creme Brulee latte from CC's .
I also got an egg McMuffin to go with my hash brown, and I had forgotten just how much I love those things.
I also realized next time I want to splurge on a bougie free coffee that's sweet to go sugar free.
Next up was not a freebie, but my family took me to my favorite place in town, Rocca Pizzeria. We got the garlic knots to split as an appetizer and what's so great about those is the whipped provolone. 🤤 I ordered my favorite pizza in the city, which is their four cheese pizza. (Savings alert - go during happy hour and you can get it for half price!) Now, Rocca has their rewards available on the Toast app, and the birthday reward for that is $5 off, but our waitress wasn't sure how to do that so she offered me a free gelato instead.
After mentioning to them that nobody in my office except my besties had acknowledged my birthday, they couldn't stand for the fact that I had not received a cake for my birthday, so they bought me one.
Sometimes you can feel like you've made friends of proximity in this business and that when you are no longer working with them, they'll forget you, but this showed me I have real friends in these ladies. 🤗
I left work early, because I felt like one of my besties was pushing me out the door, and used this time to take advantage of the two deals that I could only redeem on my actual birthday: Starbucks and Tropical Cafe. Since Starbucks has changed it from a free beverage to a free item, I got a chocolate croissant to go with my smoothie for my drive home.
I ended the night with dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings to take advantage of their new bottomless apps deal, and then we ended the night at Andy's so I could get my free ice cream cone. I find their ice cream cones melt really quickly, so it was a race against the clock to finish it before my shirt was covered. I managed to finish with minimal stains to clean up when we got home.
