ARC Season: Faceless Devotion

Honestly, I did not expect to like this one as much as I did. It usually takes me a while to get into the whole billionaire biker romance, but this one was very well written ... except for a few inconsistencies.

We open with Morgan, who is in a relationship with Justin. Justin is out of town for work, but he always checks in. However, Morgan gets a text from one of her best friends that Justin is in town, and at an expensive restaurant with another woman. Morgan shows up to confront him and Justin tells her that it's not what she thinks and he can explain. Likely story, sir ...

Justin follows her out of the restaurant and they have an argument on the sidewalk. A group of guys on bikes are riding by and step in to help when they hear Morgan tell Justin not to touch her. "Bullet" escorts Morgan back to her car and the two banter via text once they get home. "Bullet" recommends and pays for someone to change her locks since Justin has a key to her place and they meet up again for dinner for her to thank him. However, "Bullet" insists on keeping the helmet on and their identities secret ... for now.

Surprisingly, Morgan agrees. It seems odd that she would agree considering that her boyfriend of 9 months had been lying to her, but she kind of goes with the idea of "at least I know what the mystery is". To each their own 🤷

For days these two are meeting up - going on motorcycle rides, being at each other's places having dinner, watching movies, sleeping together (just sleeping) all with "Bullet" wearing the helmet. He finally lets her know that his first name is Archer. So he is a real person ... but still no last name.

Flash forward about a week, and Morgan begins to notice some inconsistencies with some accounts at work. She begins to get suspicious of her boss. Things come to a head when her digital signature is used to approve some invoices and purchases that she has never seen. It seems Morgan is being used as a scapegoat to take the fall for someone, but who?

Morgan quickly finds out that Archer is a lot more than he has let on to be. While he hasn't lied, there are some important details that he hasn't shared about himself. Is this the end of Morgan and Archer before it begins?

I will say, there was a twist that I did not see coming when I initially read the book in how deep the setting up for Morgan was. It was also unclear in the end just how much was set up and how much was coincidences tied to the set up. Looking back, I can see where there was hints to some but not all. So I'm still not sure what all was just a coincidence.

Overall, this was a great book. Morgan and Archer get a happy ending - she does finally see his face and find out who he is. I'm excited for the next book in the series and hopefully will get chosen for an ARC for that one as well!
