ARC Season: Love & Lattes At The Mermaid Cafe

Finally, the last book in the Midlife Meet Cute Series is live! This is the series that started me on what has been a wave of an ARC season. I didn't realize when I signed up to be an ARC reader for one author, that they would add me to the ARC list for all of them, but I am extremely grateful.

While I have a very soft spot in my heart for the last book in this series, Shot on Goal at a Second Chance, this book may be a very close second for my favorite book in the series. Which was a shock to me as I normally wouldn't gravitate toward this book.

So let's dive in to my review of this one, Love & Lattes at the Mermaid Cafe!

This book is not only a second chance at love, but also a second chance at life story. Lena is living her next chance at life, after being divorced twice - resulting in three step children -  and laid off once, in Mermaid Bay. In her previous life, she was an accountant, but she is now the proud owner of the Mermaid Cafe.

Mermaid Bay is a small, unapologetically quirky beach town that is full of characters that will keep you laughing. Most of the businesses have been in the owners families for generations, and are aptly on theme with the Mermaid Bay legend.

Cade comes into town and sees potential business deals that would make his father proud. He comes to the Mermaid Cafe and has an instant attraction to Lena. However, Lena knows hot guys in Italian leather shoes are usually up to no good.

She takes him on the Mermaid Bay Legacy Tour, designed by the business owners with riddles and tests to drive real estate developers away. Most people give up after the second stop on the tour, but Cade surprises everyone and makes it all the way to the end of the tour.

I didn't include this part in my reviews on Amazon and Good reads, but I love that Lena has sworn off men, but still keeps a tally of "points" they either earn or lose for a total score. This slips out at some point and then Cade becomes determined to get at least 20 points once she lets him know that he has a negative point value.

Cade has to decide which he wants more - Lena’s affection or his dad’s adoration. Can Cade and Lena both take a second chance on love, or will their chance wash away?
