Weekly Recap

We had a big milestone this week. My daughter is officially in high school, so I officially feel old. It's hard to believe that in 4 more years she'll be off to the next chapter of her life. I'll keep this one short because it wasn't really that eventful for a week over here.

HIGH:
Well, I have a high schooler. That's a pretty big thing! I mean, it's a high-low, but more of a high. I created this first day of high school gift basket for her. Though she hasn't acknowledged it, I know she is using the pens.

LOW: My work phone finally decided that it was done with life. I got it when I started in September of 2016, and it was an Iphone XR. Our IT guy said that he was actually shocked it was still working and that I had the oldest phone of anyone in the department.

HA: I had to back out of reviewing an ARC this week because I could not get past the first chapter. To keep it vague, there were some factual discrepancies that I just couldn't get past.

COOL EATS

The only thing really cool that I ate this week was a pizookie from BJ's Brewhouse. Those are usually reserved for a treat your self day, and kiddo and I did just that. Oh, we also got kiddo a cake in a box from Baskin Robbins for her first day. So I guess the cool eats of the week was more of a literally term, haha.

WEEKLY RUNDOWN

Latest Reads: I finished a couple of ARCS. Faceless Devotion comes out on Friday and Witches & Wine comes out later this month. I also read Abstract Love, the first in a series that I've been selected to be on the ARC team for the third book that's coming out in October.

I also read the first in the Hidden Species spin-off series about the elves, Wooing the Wiccan. If you haven't read any of the Hidden Species universe from Louisa Masters, start with Demons Do It Better and work your way through that one and the first spin-off series, Dragon Ever After. TRUST ME!

Current Read: Next up is another ARC that I have to review for a book coming out early next month, Semi-Sweet. I'm also over halfway through with The Anthropocene Review which I need to finish by Thursday for book club. (Which I'm hosting ... eek!)

I've got to get a hustle on this week because there's a lot going on! I have a friend who's birthday is Tuesday, and she graduates with her master's on Friday. (Yay, Kylee!) I'm also part of a focus group on Thursday which will roll right into me coming home to host book club. It's my first time hosting and my first time having people in my house and trying to accept that they won't care about the clutter of boxes we still have to unpack since we moved three houses in to here and are trying to figure out what to do with stuff.

I'll do better about a recap next week, maybe, we'll see. Catch ya later!
