Weekly Recap

Hello friends! This week was a super busy week for us. I don't have a lot of pictures to share ... I don't think so, but we'll see as we work through this recap together. I'm also revising this to highlight the main points of my week, which are eating and reading.

HIGH:
The birds that have built a nest in our garage now have babies! We've been waiting for this for a long time and we know our neighbors probably think we are crazy because we talk to them every day, but for us it's pretty exciting.

LOW: I was super bummed that I couldn't go to a book bedazzling class I signed up for so I could be there for the kiddo's first student training milestone ... and then my "ha" for the week happened ...

HA: In a full circle moment, kiddo's first football scrimmage as a student trainer went into a lightning delay before the scheduled start. As someone who works in sports, I had some flashbacks to when I was still working events and these delays lasted forever. Luckily, they had an indoor facility where they could bring the students into and they could begin the scrimmage, even if it was without parents. So I got some steps in around the parking lot, had some taco bell for dinner, and took a zoom call for her choir activities all before we were out of the delay and the gates opened 2 1/2 hours later. (Spoiler, I could have gone to the book bedazzling class and been back before the gates opened.)

COOL EATS

Tsunami: The Big Easy roll from Tsunami was SO good! It has crawfish, snow crab mix, krabstick, fried shrimp and is deep fried. It's basically the embodiment of Louisiana in a sushi roll. You may think it's not going to fill you up because it's only four pieces, but they are thick and full of filling. I added a soup and split some wontons with kiddo and was full when we left.

Taste of Tiger Stadium: One of the perks of my job is that we get to sample concession items before the football season starts. This is just part of the spread that I got to sample. Those birria nachos from Tre's Street Kitchen were my favorite!

Krispy Kreme via Walmart: I was weak when I went grocery shopping and snagged a box of the Harry Potter themed donuts.

LAST READS

Ask For Andrea: This is my church book club pick for September, and it was my pick! The story follows three girls who have all been murdered by the same man. We follow each of their ghosts as the police try to solve their murders.

Eddie: Shaw Montgomery is one of my favorite MM romance authors. (Also known as M.A. Innes, the author of the little dragon series I love so much!) This book follows Eddie and Shelby, Eddie somewhat stalks Shelby online but does things that make Shelby's life easier. It's actually really sweet, even though I know I didn't make it sound like it.

The Meet-Cute Collection: Another one of my favorite MM authors, Lee Blair has compiled four novellas that were previously published in various anthologies. I was on the ARC team for this one, and I recommend grabbing this book when it comes out next week.

CURRENT READS

Home of the Happy: This book came highly recommended, so it's my new listen while I'm at work.

Love, Mom: This is my work book club pick, and I started it today. The mom has passed away, but the daughter begins getting letters from her mother, that tell another story.

The Rise, Book 1: I'm on the ARC team for this one, and it comes out September 10th. It's a very interesting story so far and there are some cult like vibes among the group of paranormals, and I can't wait to see how this series goes.
