Weekly Recap

I've realized that I might actually need to make notes on what happens during the week because by Sunday I seem to forget everything that happened. πŸ˜‚ We hit October, and it never fails, my string of ARCs continues. I'm really excited about these because I signed up to be part of the street team and the ARC team for a series of Christmas-y novellas. I still have a few others to read, but I'm pretty much caught up and it feels good.

Sunday Story Time

Louis Tomlinson is going back on tour! Louis is my favorite member of One Direction. I've tried to see him in concert twice, and both times it didn't happen because of situations nobody could have planned for. The first concert was cancelled due to Covid. The second one, was cancelled due to a hail storm. My bestie and I had traveled to Red Rocks for the second one, so we were in a hail storm on top of a mountain and I do not recommend it.

So the question is, do I try a third time? Could this really be the time that's a charm? I'm going to have to think about it, but i'm thinking I might try.

Chasing the Fun

So, I've officially been invited to join a game night of people at our church. Most people are in their late 50s/early 60s, but there are a few in their mid-30s/early 40s. I have to say, the group that was there this month was the best group I could have started with. I had the most fun that I've had in a long time. We played two games, Wavelength and Stay Cool. I had never played either of them, and this group did a really good job of explaining them so it was easy to follow along. I'm excited to go back next month and see what games we end up playing.

Cool Eats

I finally got to try out Louisiana Sandwich Company, a popup food truck situation that is usually at Pelican to Mars. I panicked when ordering and got the Spamwich. When he handed me my order, he said "Good luck. I believe in you." At first I thought maybe I accidentally signed up for a quest, but when I opened the box it made sense. I swear I got a full can of Spam on this sandwich, and it was delightful. I definitely want to go back and try some of the other sandwiches like the pressed crab and the boudin grilled cheese.

We also went to Torchy's as an office this week, and I've gotten to where all I really want at Torchy's is the Hillbilly queso and salsa. I usually add a kids chicken quesadilla, and I really wish the chicken quesadillas were made for adults too.

Our family also went to Freddy's this weekend and I LOVE their cheese curds. 🀀

Books Read

Ok, the part of the week that I usually have something to talk about πŸ˜‚

The Flight Of The Osprey: I was an ARC reader for this one, and it will be released on Tuesday. This is a story about two best friends who drifted apart after a traumatic event but both end up back in their hometown at the same time.

Pies & Promises: This was a re-read for me. I love this series by Duckie Mack, and this one is a super cute MM romance with a single dad who makes pies for the local farmer's market who meets a man who runs a diner. Nico is amazing with Jason's kids and his relationship with them is too cute.

The Weight of Her Silence: Whoa. This one was an emotional roller coaster. Her husband has been cheating on her for 10 years, while she is dying from cancer (he has no clue). Their children know about the affair and it's an unspoken secret among the whole family. The husband finds out after his wife's death that his mistress and his wife were roommates in college and had known each other for years before he entered the picture ... she was even at their wedding. So crazy to read!

Shift Happens & Love Clumsily: This is a 3 book series, and I'm currently finishing up the third book. (Which is actually the first book, because I read them completely out of order.) They are stories of wolf shifters finding love with humans and they both were adorable. (All MM romances)

Brett & Rowdy: This is another book in the Gomillian High reunion series. (Same as Brett & Finn that I ARC read for) This one was so good. Lots of miscommunication and misunderstandings led to these two being a part, but the reunion lets them find their way back to each other. It was one of the moments where you realize that they both needed to grow separately before they could grow together. It was such a sweet read. (MM romance)

Street Team and Upcoming ARC series

I am so excited for this series of Christmas novellas that I get to be part of both the ARC and street teams for! The first two books will be released next week, and I am beyond excited to get into the holiday spirit.
