Yelpers Do Pasta!

One of my absolute favorite foods is pasta, so it's a little shocking that it has taken me this long to visit Prima Apres, a build your own pasta bar with a location here in Baton Rouge.

Appropriately named as it only serves two things, pasta for your main course (prima meaning first course in Italian) and pavlova (apres meaning after in French). I didn't save room for the pavlova, so I'll have to go back and try that one day.

The vibes are not what I would expect from a pasta place, all clean lines and aesthetically pleasing backdrops with globe lights. I guess this is a nod to it being a classier type of place. Considering it is in a small strip mall that used to house a wing restaurant and still houses a CBD shop, that is really close to campus ... it just wasn't what I expected, in a good way.

The concept is simple, it's basically a Subway of pasta - pick your pasta type, your sauce, your toppings ... you can add protein or extra sauce for an additional cost as well. There are plenty of options on sauces - meaty, marinara based, cheesy, buttery ... and I want to try them all.

I went with the radiatori pasta, the lemon cacio e pepe sauce, and pecorino romano with crispy prosciutto for my toppings. Everything from the pasta to the sauce is made in-house, and they don't boil your pasta until you order so it's super fresh.

My pasta was REALLY good, and I had plenty to bring some for lunch the next day as well. The only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't a listed base price for the pasta, so I don't know what this would have cost if I was paying for it myself. From people I know who have gone, the base is around $15, which I'm not sure that I would want to pay that much for pasta with no protein, but it could be a nice treat yo self meal every once in a while.
