We are officially one week down in Novel November, and I've been consistent about making it a habit to sit and write for at least 15 minutes a day. Some days I go longer, and there were a few days that I had to kind of plow through to get something on the page.
I'm reminding myself that this process is about progress and not perfection right now, similar to my fitness journey. I set my word count goal for November at 30k words. I feel that is a push but a doable push as it amounts to about 1000 words a day. I'm still going with writing scenes as they come to me, and will work on putting them all together after we get through this writing push.
Current word count: 10,297
CHASE THE FUN
For game night this month, since we were playing a murder mystery, we decided to have our potluck theme be recipes with a secret ingredient. I decided to try my hand at ice cream bread. The internet said that the most common flavors people use are vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, and coffee. It also said that you need to use full fat ice cream.
I had a not full fat coffee affegato in the freezer, and I picked up strawberry and chocolate at the store. I was hoping at least one would taste ok so I'd have something to bring. Well they all tasted great, and like bread ... I know it's called ice cream bread but somehow I assumed it would taste like cake, and I was able to bring a sampling of all three.
This will also be my new go-to holiday gift because it was super easy to make. One pint of melted ice cream, 1.5 cups of self rising flour, bake at 350 for 40 minutes. Voila.
COOL EATS
The two sets of cookies were impulse purchases the Matherne's discount cart across the street from work. I need to know where they hid that cart because when I went back to the next day to stop up, the cart was gone. Both are great with an afternoon coffee for a little fika.
This was my first time trying China Bear and holy crap that lemon pepper shrimp is one of the best things I've eaten from a Chinese restaurant. This will officially be my new go-to for when I'm making a Barnes and Noble lunch run.
BOOKS READ
Read 6 books this week! I have a few more to finish before I'm officially caught up on my pending ARCS. Only 4 ARCS to finish by the end of the month, unless there are more I signed up for and forgot that show up in my inbox. 😬 (* designates an ARC read)
Nicked by the Mistletoe* - Another installment in the Letters to Mrs. Claus series! Review post will be up at the end of the week.
Ginger Snapped*- MM romance novella and this one was too cute! Cameron is a librarian who is known for his gingerbread. Finn is a former baker who has moved to this small town for a fresh start. With the annual gingerbread competition coming up, will these two blend together or break under the pressure?
Witching You Mistletoe and Mayhem* - An adorable opposites attract kind of romance that shows maybe our two main characters aren't as different as they think they are. What happens when a couple in an accidental secret marriage go to a haunted inn and end up having a ghost as a third wheel to both of you figuring out your relationship? You have to pick this book up to find out.
Enticing the Elf - Another home run from Louisa Masters in this Hidden Species universe. Would you be willing to hike the Summit of Love to prove that you are relationship material to someone who has been burned? I wish Team Bro had more cameos, but I'm glad that they had a pretty big role in setting up the Summit of Love.
Craving the Obsession - Not much to say about this one. I wasn't a fan.
Matched With My Christmas Crush*- Another installment in the Letters to Mrs. Claus series. Review post will be up at the end of next week.
