Hi y'all! I'm a little late to the party this week because it has been a busy week. This is the point where summer starts to ramp up, so it's getting exciting at our house! And we're still nowhere close to unpacking this house π§π³π΅π¬ Big summer plans gone wrong ... or right since we're spending the time enjoying life ππ€·
HIGH: It was hard to pick a high this week, so I'm just going to say that the whole mission trip to Mississippi was a high. It was a quick trip, but it allowed to me to get to know some people in our church better, and we also had a great time hanging out with the kids at Delta Hands for Hope. And you couldn't beat the pool at the Air BnB we stayed at.
LOW: Had to schedule an appointment for kiddo this week that our insurance will not cover, so there's more of a drop from savings than I wanted to happen this summer. But, that's what it's there for.
HA: Real World: Church Mission Trip. Y'all, when you're traveling with the hearing aid brigade (as I dubbed our 3 men in charge of construction), hilarity will ensue when they can't hear each other or anyone else.
COOL EATS
It's mainly a dessert filled cool eats this week. When we were in in Mississippi, we went to this locally owned ice cream store called Delta Dairy and what got my attention was the freezer full of ice cream sandwiches. They had some cool ones with varieties of poptarts and Little Debbie cookies, but then they had two rows of homemade cookies. I went with the Oreo Nutella cookie one and it was delicious! I found out that it was actually a new flavor that they had just started serving that week, and they wanted my opinion on it! (Which of course made me feel good π)

Then when I was out and about running errands, I saw my favorite local baker, Kimberly of Mid City Bakery, was selling her treats and one of the local bookstores. Since I hadn't been to Red Stick Reads new location yet, I took it as a sign that I needed to go. I bought all the things, but so far have only tried these biscotti bites with my afternoon coffee. They are cherry almond citrus and it's hard to stop myself from eating the entire bag while I type up a few blog posts and work on a review for an ARC that I finished while on our trip.
CHASING THE FUN
Our mission trip to Mississippi was a blast! We had two separate crews, one who worked with the kids camp and then one that did some construction projects. Delta Hands for Hope does an amazing job at instilling a love for others in their children, and it was evident by watching how the older kids interacted with the younger ones.
WEEKLY ROUND-UP
Volunteer: Besides the mission trip, I also had kids church this week when we got back. So I'm mentally exhausted, which is why it took so long for this post to go up.
Crafting Time: I finished my first set of bookmarks that I diamond painted! These have all been accounted for, and I have two more sets to get busy with. π€
Last Read: Pride by the Book, by Jeff Adams. (The latest installment in the Love in Maplewood series that I'm working my way through.) The ARC read I finished while on this trip was for a book coming up in this series, and I'm hoping I get chosen to ARC read the last book in the series too! I'm loving this multi-author series!
Current Read: The Villain's Assistant by Hannah Nicole Maehrer. I'll have this one finished this week and I'm kind of bummed because it's super cute and the narrator does a great job with it. Guess I have to see if the library has the next book in the series on audio for me.
On Replay: I've been on a Marianus Trench kick, which will devolve into a Canadian pop kick.
Watching: To be honest, not much of anything right now. I'm still trying to find something for me to watch. Kiddo has us watching Percy Jackson, and I haven't been able to get into it that much.
Obsessing: Finishing my summer reading bingo card from one of our local book stores. I'm having trouble finding a book with a movie that I want to both read and watch, and a book by an author of color. So if you have any suggestions, let me hear them.
