Wow, so here I am two months later and not even sure where the time went. So I'll do a very quick catch up for today and then hopefully will get back in the swing of things around here. (Going MIA seems to be my MO, but I'm trying to do a better job of keeping this digital diary up.) So here are the highlights:
KING CAKE
Of course one highlight of the past two months has been king cake season! Not just the amazing ones eaten, but my, what has come to be annual, king cake decorating class!
BOOKS READ
I'm trying to do a better job of keeping track of the books I read this year, and my current total is 49 books. I set my goal for the year to be 100, so I'm probably going to crush that one easily. I'm currently in four book clubs (!!) so I'm trying to be more selective on the ARC teams that I request to be a part of.
Here are some highlights of my favorites of the year, so far:
KIDDO UPDATES
So, we've been on two choir related trips with kiddo already this year: All-State Choir and then the first of her Honors Performance Series ensembles which took us to Carnegie Hall! (More on the NYC trip in future posts). We still have an upcoming Honors Performance Series ensemble trip to London this summer, but we've almost got that one fully funded! Our musical bingo fundraiser was a huge success and we cannot thank everyone enough for their support.
GOOD FOOD
Of course I've eaten some amazing things these past two months! Pictured below are:
- Nutella Cronuts (and more) from Counterspace Bakery (Drool)
- Chicken Jalapeno pocket from Starbucks (I'M OBSESSED!)
- Breakfast burritos and grilled cheese from Pura Vista (AMAZING)
- Shrimp Tandoori and cheese naan from Aroma Grill (I WANT SO MUCH!)
- Pecan pie sweet potato fries from Frankie's Dawg House (OMG!)
- Pimento Cheese Quiche from Gospel Coffee (Could be the best thing I've eaten ever)
CHASE THE FUN
Some highlights of chasing the fun these past few months have been my solo journeys around NYC, journeys around NYC with kiddo, the King Cake decorating class and Murder Mystery with the YELP crew, and game nights and dinners with friends.
Ok, I think I've done a quick catch up of what's been going on these past two months. How's your 2026 starting? Has it been as hectic as ours? Have you read any good books? Eaten some good food? Done anything fun?
